The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to join our Electrical Construction team in Seattle. In this role, you will lead estimating work with sales, engineering, and operations teams. Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing bid strategies, including value engineering and reviewing bid packages before submission.
• Preparing conceptual estimates and budgets as needed.
• Reviewing general and special conditions and other documents to ensure accurate cost estimates.
• Reviewing subcontractor quotes for completeness.
• Maintaining current and historical cost and bid result databases.
• Reviewing technical specifications and plans to understand scope.
• Preparing scope letters and communicating with clients and bidders.
• Leading project estimating programs and schedules.
• Developing project estimates based on conceptual or schematic descriptions.
• Implementing value engineering and constructability practices.
• Engaging with clients, subcontractors, vendors, architects, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive solutions.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, construction management, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 8 years of estimating experience, including conceptual estimating for projects over $15 million.
• Proficiency in responsibilities of an estimator, including both conceptual and take-off estimates.
• Working knowledge of Accubid and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SharePoint, Trimble/Quickpen, and Quotesoft is preferred.
• Knowledge of building systems and project financials.
