Job summary

Miller Electric is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead complex cost estimates from take-offs through bid hand-off. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, vendors, and customers to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.

Ideal candidates will have extensive NEC knowledge, strong math and reading blueprints skills, and experience with ConEst or similar estimating software.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience with a High School Diploma.
• 6–8 years of experience with an Associate degree.
• 2–4 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong NEC knowledge and ability to read specs and blueprints.
• Excellent math and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; ConEst experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops cost estimates from take‑off to bid hand‑off with the project manager.
• Develops cost estimates for change orders.
• Analyzes material, labor, equipment, and other requirements.
• Participates in pre‑bid and scope review meetings and job walks.
• Prepares detailed scope letters.
• Reads and interprets blueprints.
• Meets with engineers, customers, vendors, and project managers.
• Obtains pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
• Coordinates and guides other estimators.
• Assumes other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Senior Electrical Estimator

The Senior Estimator reports directly to the Regional Director. You’ll develop through hands‑on experience, peer collaboration, and ongoing technical training.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for:

• Develops cost estimates from take‑off stage to bid hand‑off, working closely with the Project Manager assigned to the project.
• Develops cost estimates for change orders, as needed.
• Analyzes material, labor, equipment, and other requirements to complete a project.
• Attends pre‑bid and scope review meetings, as well as job walks when necessary.
• Prepares detailed scope letters.
• Reading & thoroughly understanding blueprints.
• Meets with engineers, customers, vendors, and Project Managers.
• Contacts vendors and subcontractors for pricing.
• Ability to coordinate and organize other estimators
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies:

• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Low Voltage Systems.
• Ability to read and evaluate specifications and blueprints.
• Ability to deal effectively with customers.
• Ability to analyze risks involved with certain project types.
• Ability to estimate large and small projects.
• Ability to work calmly under deadlines and external pressure.
• Excellent math skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong computer skills- Specifically in Microsoft Suite Applications

Education Requirements:

• 8-10 years of experience with a High School Diploma or
• 6-8 years of experience with an Associate degree or
• 2-4 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree

Preferred but not required:

• Familiarity with ConEst Estimating Software
• Hands‑on construction experience

Abilities:

• Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
• Sitting for extended periods of time.
• Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
• Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
• Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
