Job summary

Lighthouse Electric is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead cost estimating for complex commercial and industrial projects. You will develop estimates from take-off through bid hand-off, inspect sites, analyze labor and materials, and coordinate with engineers, vendors, and project managers.

With at least 10 years in electrical construction and 5 years in estimating, you will drive bid accuracy, ROM/budget estimates, and push for competitive, compliant bids.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering or technical training in related field, preferred
  • Knowledge of NEC and Low Voltage Systems
  • Experience with estimating software (Accubid Enterprise preferred)
  • Ability to read specifications and blueprints
  • Perform computer-based take-offs
  • Capable of producing ROM and budgetary estimates
  • Experience estimating on projects from $100k to $100M+
  • Strong communication with customers and internal stakeholders

Responsibilities

Job Description

Senior Electrical Estimator completes advanced electrical estimating responsibilities with periodic team supervision on a per estimate basis as assigned by Estimating Manager.

  • Manages direct reports on a specific, assigned project
  • Develops cost estimates from take‑off stage to bid hand‑off
  • Performs site inspections to fully determine the labor and materials needs
  • Analyzes material, labor requirements, and general conditions to complete a project
  • Attends pre‑bid and scope review meetings
  • Responsible for leading and directing the flow of information for bid reviews
  • Computes and submits bids
  • Interprets the specifications and blueprints to determine design intent
  • Coordinates with engineers, customers, vendors, and Project Managers
  • Manages quotation process with vendors
  • Determines equipment needs
  • Capable of producing ROM and budgetary estimates
  • Maintains up‑to‑date information in Opportunity Tracker
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering or technical training in related field, preferred
Additional Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Low Voltage Systems
  • Knowledge of and direct experience in estimating software. Accubid Enterprise preferred
  • Ability to:
    • Read and evaluate specifications and blueprints
    • Perform computer‑based take‑offs
    • Complete estimates using technology, e.g., Bluebeam, LiveCount, BIM models
    • Adhere to Estimating department standards
    • Assess and quantify risks based on opportunity type
    • Estimate projects from $100k to $100M+
    • Collaborate on complex estimates with estimating team members
    • Communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
    • Maintain composure under deadlines and external pressure
    • Analyze risks involved with certain project type
    • Confidently discuss and develop budgets based on estimated opportunities
    • Prioritize multiple bid jobs
    • Effectively supervise as directed
  • Comfortable working within a transparent work environment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Minimum of 10 years electrical construction experience
  • 5 years electrical estimating experience, preferred
