Position Overview

Insulet provides a fast-paced and energetic work environment, where team members develop innovative, customer-focused drug delivery products aimed at meaningfully improving quality of life for those afflicted with chronic diseases.

This position supports the R&D Engineering teams in designing and developing low power battery-operated medical electronics. Responsibilities include assembling prototypes, setting up & supporting development systems, following test procedures, and documenting test results. Close collaboration with engineering team members is essential to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement, assembly, and testing of technical products and systems
  • Application of principles, theories, and concepts of electromechanical systems, including troubleshooting with engineering support
  • Assembling electromechanical systems using automated and manual tools
  • Assembling embedded electronic systems with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components, using hand tools and reworking techniques
  • Setting up and operating test equipment to evaluate performance under simulated conditions, following detailed procedures, and reporting results
  • Gathering and analyzing test data using MS Excel or similar tools to present findings
  • Working under supervision, following established directions, and exercising judgment within defined practices
  • Performing additional duties as necessary

Education And Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma / GED with 4+ years relevant experience, or Associate's Degree/Vocational Technical School diploma in a related field with 2+ years relevant experience

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, effective communicator
  • Ethical, responsible, data-driven decision making
  • Organizational and prioritization skills with guidance
  • Knowledge of executing test protocols, basic data analysis, and reporting
  • Proficiency in Office Software (Word, Excel)
  • Lab rework equipment proficiency (soldering iron, hot air station, wire crimping, etc.), especially on modern components like BGA and QFN packages at 0.5mm pitch
  • Lab test equipment proficiency (DMM, Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Signal Generators, etc.) preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 20 lbs.
  • On-site at Acton, MA, 5 days/week
  • Travel estimated at 10% or less, flexible depending on business needs

Additional Information

The US base salary range is $28.00 - $42.25, determined by role, level, and location. Salary details reflect the base pay only and do not include bonuses, equity, or benefits. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
