Job summary

Vector Atomic, an IonQ company, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer in Pleasanton, CA to lead electronics design for next-gen quantum space sensors. You will own end-to-end PCB development for LEO missions, collaborating with physicists, mechanical, firmware, and optical teams to meet strict reliability and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience designing electronics for space applications (LEO).
• Experience with power, analog, and mixed-signal circuit design for flight systems.
• Knowledge of radiation effects (TID, SEE) and mitigation strategies.
• Experience selecting or qualifying components for radiation performance, including COTS parts.
• High-speed PCB design practices: controlled impedance, length matching, grounding, decoupling, shielding.
• Lab environment experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs).
• Strong written and verbal communication; cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead high‑level electrical architecture for next‑generation quantum sensors (SWaP‑C).
• Own end‑to‑end PCB development: requirements, schematic, layout, fabrication, verification.
• Translate system requirements into detailed electronic designs with physics, mechanical, software, and optical teams.
• Design and adapt circuits for reliable operation in LEO radiation and thermal environments.
• Collaborate with firmware and RTL engineers on radiation-tolerant techniques (TMR, SEU).
• Support system integration, testing, and troubleshooting to meet instrument requirements.
• Build environmental test plans simulating LEO conditions; estimate FIT rates and electronics lifetime.
