Job summary

Northwood Space is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own Prism’s non‑RF electronics, designing the digital compute, power, embedded, and mixed‑signal hardware that sits with the RF chain from schematic through bring‑up to production release.

You will architect high‑density boards around FPGAs and microcontrollers, define clocking, power distribution, and mixed‑signal interfaces, and lead verification to ensure signal integrity, EMI/EMC compliance, and manufacturability for space missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years designing electronics hardware from schematic through bring-up.
• Hands-on design with FPGAs and/or microcontrollers.
• Experience with board-level clocking and power distribution for complex digital systems.
• Schematic capture, PCB stack-up definition, and multilayer layout.
• Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC design practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical design of Prism's non-RF electronics: digital, power, embedded, mixed-signal.
• Architect high-density boards with FPGAs, microcontrollers, high-speed data interfaces.
• Define clocking architectures, jitter budgets, and synchronization across subsystems.
• Design power trees from input to point-of-load regulators, sequencing, monitoring, and protection.
• Develop mixed-signal interfaces between digital and analog/RF domains and ADC/DAC front ends.
• Lead schematic capture, PCB stack-up decisions, and board layout for signal integrity and EMI/EMC.
• Lead board bring-up and verification, iterating designs for performance and manufacturability.
