Job summary

i3 seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead circuit board development and defense-system modernization efforts. You will design, document, and integrate boards and electrical components across software, firmware, analog/digital domains, and power systems.

You will drive analysis, architecture, validation, and collaboration with vendors and customers to meet technical, cost, and schedule targets while handling sensitive programs requiring clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 12-17 years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience developing robust software, firmware and hardware solutions.
• Experience performing circuit and PCB/PCBA design and analysis, FPGA designs, embedded processors.
• Ability to generate architectural design block diagrams from firmware designs.
• Knowledge of DSP coding and communication protocols.
• Experience with checkout, debug and troubleshooting of PCBAs.
• Hands-on lab experience with instrumentation and test methods.
• Proficient in C/C++ low level algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Lead activities across the product life cycle from concept through fabrication, testing, delivery, and post-delivery support.
• Analyze and document existing circuit boards and firmware; develop system architectures and block diagrams; validate with point-to-point or COTS.
• Develop robust software, firmware, and hardware solutions including PCB/PCBA design, interfaces, FPGA logic, and embedded designs.
• Create replacement board architectures, schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and fabrication/assembly files.
• Conduct technical trade studies and apply DSP/communication protocol knowledge to system design.
• Coordinate with fabrication/assembly vendors; support board bring-up, aircraft/system integration, testing, root-causes, and design revisions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and customers to meet technical, operational, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
