Job summary

Rocket Lab Robotics in Pasadena is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer II to lead avionics hardware development for robotics programs. You will own end-to-end hardware, define requirements, prototype, design, test, and support production in a fast-paced space environment.

The role requires 8+ years in electrical hardware design, expertise in analog signal chains and motor-control applications, and board bring-up with SPICE analyses. U.S. citizenship is required for program eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of electrical hardware design experience.
  • Experience in motor-control applications.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of hardware for robotics and motor-control applications.
  • Drive architecture decisions that advance control algorithms, including microcontroller-based systems.
  • Develop PCBA requirements in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
  • Perform PCBA design verification testing and system integration testing.
  • Own and support environmental testing (EMI/EMC, thermal-vacuum, shock, vibration).
  • Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
  • Provide mentorship to support engineers performing layout, analysis, testing, and related activities.
  • Lead electronic component and parts selection considering performance, reliability, availability, lifecycle, lead times and cost.
  • Develop and maintain engineering bills of materials and coordinate with planning, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to ensure material readiness.
