Job summary

CDM Smith Inc. is seeking a licensed Electrical Design Engineer with strong design expertise and project management experience to lead federal infrastructure, water/wastewater and industrial projects.

This role blends hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities and supports federal project work; the position is hybrid and can be based in multiple U.S. cities. You will lead design efforts, coordinate with clients and teams, and ensure compliance with relevant codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license required.
• 10 years of related electrical engineering experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems.
• Perform power system analyses using SKM PowerTools or ETAP.
• Develop electrical plans, specs, and cost estimates for federal, water/wastewater, industrial, and transportation projects.
• Coordinate with clients, utilities, code officials, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ensure designs comply with the NEC, NFPA 820, and other applicable codes and standards.
