Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems to join our growing team. This role focuses on leading complex electrical design for industrial and energy infrastructure projects, including Oil & Gas, Renewables, and Data Centers.

You will serve as a technical lead, client partner, and mentor, delivering practical, high‑quality engineering solutions. The position requires a PE license, 10+ years of experience, and proficiency with SKM/ETAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required or higher and PE license preferred.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial or energy infrastructure.
• Experience leading complex projects and mentoring colleagues.
• Proficiency with SKM/ETAP and understanding of NEC/NFPA 70E/IEEE/API/AGA practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead medium to large electrical engineering projects from concept through delivery.
• Act as technical lead, coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Develop power system designs, calculations, reports, and project documentation.
• Design interconnects with utilities and prepare equipment specifications; perform system studies and design reviews.
• Utilize SKM or ETAP for modeling and analysis; identify risks and drive solutions.
• Support business development through proposals, cost estimates, and client interactions.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team.

Lead Complex Power & Industrial Projects That Matter

This is a high‑impact technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex electrical design challenges and leading projects from concept through execution. In this role, you will support a wide range of industrial and energy infrastructure projects, including Oil & Gas, Renewables, Distributed Power, Data Centers, and Power Generation. You’ll serve as a technical lead, client partner, and mentor—helping deliver practical, high‑quality engineering solutions while guiding project teams and supporting business growth.

What You’ll Do

• Lead moderate to large‑scale electrical engineering projects from concept through delivery
• Serve as a technical lead and make sound decisions on complex engineering issues
  • Develop and oversee: Power system designs, controls drawings, engineering calculations, technical reports, and project documentation
• Design electrical service interconnects in coordination with local utility providers
• Prepare specifications for the procurement, installation, and testing of electrical equipment
  • Perform and/or lead: electrical system studies, detailed design work, design reviews, field investigations, and technical reporting
• Use engineering software such as SKM or ETAP for system modeling and analysis
• Coordinate closely with project managers, clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
• Identify project risks, scope changes, and technical challenges early and proactively
• Contribute to proposal development, cost estimating, and business development efforts
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Proven experience in a technical leadership role
• Direct experience supporting industrial facilities
• Experience using SKM or ETAP
• Strong working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, API and AGA recommended practices

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated salary range for this position is \$120,000 – \$170,000 per year.
