Job summary

BD in Durham, NC is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to design, develop, and test electrical systems for medical devices, guiding products from concept through production while complying with IEC 60601 and ISO 13485.

You will lead schematic capture, PCB layout, testing, and cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, software, and QA teams to ensure robust, manufacturable designs and successful transfers to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7–10 years of experience in electrical design for medical devices or regulated environments.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Strong analog and digital circuit design knowledge.
• Experience with MCUs, FPGAs, and various interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, USB).
• Familiarity with IEC 60601 and ISO 13485 is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test electrical circuits and systems for medical devices.
• Perform schematic capture, PCB layout design, and component selection.
• Conduct testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of electrical designs.
• Develop and execute test plans and analyze test data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless product integration.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical feedback.
• Ensure designs meet IEC 60601, ISO 13485 and internal quality requirements.
• Support manufacturing transfers including prototype builds and production tests.
• Maintain documentation of designs, analyses, and test results.
• Stay current with emerging electrical engineering technologies in medical devices.
