Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Industrial Center of Excellence. The role supports electrical design for industrial facilities across multiple markets, including manufacturing, life sciences, and mission-critical projects.

You will lead design of power distribution, lighting, life safety, and control systems, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, prepare docs, and ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA/IEEE. This is a multi-location opportunity in the United States.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering design for industrial facilities.
  • EIT Certificate.
  • Experience designing building electrical systems: power distribution, lighting, and emergency power.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE.
  • Experience preparing construction documents and calculations.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and common electrical design software.
  • Strong communication and teamwork.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Industrial Center of Excellence (CoE) team. This role can sit in multiple locations across the U.S.

Your Impact
  • Support the delivery of electrical engineering design for a variety of industrial projects, including advanced manufacturing, food & beverage, life sciences, semiconductor, battery manufacturing, and mission-critical facilities.

  • Design and develop electrical systems including:

  • Power distribution systems

  • Emergency and standby power systems

  • Lighting and lighting control systems

  • Fire alarm and life safety systems

  • Grounding and lightning protection systems

  • Industrial electrical infrastructure and controls

  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, construction documents, and reports.

  • Coordinate electrical designs with multidisciplinary project teams, including mechanical, structural, plumbing, process, and controls engineers.

  • Participate in all phases of project delivery, from planning and design through construction administration and project closeout.

  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities to verify design implementation and resolve technical issues.

  • Assist with code reviews and ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and local regulations.

  • Support quality assurance and quality control reviews to maintain WSP's technical standards and project delivery excellence.

  • Collaborate with project managers to support scope, schedule, budget, and deliverable requirements.

  • Contribute technical expertise and innovative solutions that improve project performance and client outcomes.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering design for industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, life sciences, semiconductor, battery manufacturing, or large commercial facilities.

  • EIT Certificate

  • Demonstrated experience designing building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and emergency power systems.

  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, and IEEE.

  • Experience preparing construction documents, specifications, and technical calculations.

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and common electrical design software.

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.

  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.

  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.

  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.

  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $89,000- 125,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
