Rocket Lab Robotics in Pasadena, CA seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer II to lead avionics hardware development for robotics programs. You will drive end-to-end hardware ownership, from requirements through testing and production, collaborating across disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes FPGA biology? - actually FPGA and microcontroller work, PCBA design, environmental tests, and system integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of electrical hardware design experience.
  • Experience with PCBA design using FPGAs and motor control.
  • Analog signal chain experience and SPICE analysis.
  • Board bring-up and debugging proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Own hardware for robotics and motor control end-to-end.
  • Drive architecture decisions for control algorithms.
  • Work with FPGA and microcontroller systems.
  • Develop PCBA requirements with other engineering disciplines.
  • Perform PCBA design verification and system integration testing.
  • Own environmental tests (EMI/EMC, TVAC, Shock, Vibe).
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout with Altium.
  • Mentor support engineers (layout, analysis, test).
  • Provide manufacturing support as needed.
  • Support failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
