Job summary

SMUD is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design and maintenance efforts for its hydroelectric assets at the Fresh Pond facility in Pollock Pines, CA. The role emphasizes project coordination, field leadership, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe, reliable power generation.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, a CA Professional Engineer license, and strong communication skills to mentor staff and collaborate with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• At least five (5+) years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering and design, including power generation assets.
• Professional registration as an electrical engineer in California.

Responsibilities

• Drive electrical engineering projects for power generation assets, maximizing efficiency and complying with regulatory requirements.
• Manage full project scope including planning, budgeting, scheduling and stakeholder coordination.
• Prepare comprehensive project documentation and testing plans; supervise engineering staff and craft workers.
• Develop engineering specifications and bid packages; oversee procurement and vendor interactions.
• Mentor engineers and technicians; provide training and technical guidance in hydroelectric systems.
