Job summary

Napakiak Environmental and Construction (NEC) seeks an Electrical Engineer to support ORNL electrical infrastructure projects across multiple facilities, including HPC data centers. The role focuses on safe and reliable electric power, with emphasis on high-performance computing environments and data center power and cooling infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data center or power infrastructure projects, strong communication skills, and experience with high voltage,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years experience in data center construction/renovation or power and cooling infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and presentation formats.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical design for HPC facility modifications at ORNL’s OLCF and other HPC customers.
• Oversee electrical design for tenant improvements, labs, and office modifications in ORNL leased facilities.
• Collaborate with ORNL telecom, power utility, and facility automation SMEs for complete installations.
• Provide input and plan reviews for changes and upgrades to existing facilities.
• Supervise subcontractors during construction and modifications.
• Perform on-site inspection and approval of electrical and telecom installations.
• Coordinate with ORNL and contracted disciplines to ensure successful electrical installations.
• Ensure designs meet users’ requirements, codes, DOE orders, safety, and quality standards.
