Job summary

Plan B Climatech seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead large-scale electrical design for landmark commercial/high-rise projects in Washington DC, mentoring a team of engineers and coordinating with clients, architects and contractors.

This senior, client-facing role involves delivering design from concept through construction administration while ensuring NEC/NFPA compliance and BIM coordination across Revit MEP and AutoCAD environments.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
• 8–12+ years of progressive consulting experience designing electrical systems for commercial buildings.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; NY licensure preferred (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Deep working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 110, NYC Electrical Code, NYC Energy Conservation Code, and ASHRAE 90.1.
• Proven experience leading the electrical design effort on projects of $50M+ construction value through all design phases.
• Proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD; demonstrated ability to lead BIM coordination.
• Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or equivalent power system modeling software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to lead client meetings and present technical content to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design effort on complex commercial and high‑rise projects, including new towers and major repositioning programs.
• Develop and oversee the design of medium‑ and low‑voltage power distribution systems, lighting, controls, and fire alarm.
• Perform and direct load calculations, short‑circuit and coordination studies, arc‑flash analysis, and voltage drop studies.
• Coordinate with utility companies on service entrance, vault, and metering requirements for high‑rise buildings.
• Produce and review construction documents — single‑line diagrams, riser diagrams, panel schedules, and specs.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, architects, owners, and contractors through all phases.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers; contribute to their professional growth and BIM coordination.
• Stay current on building electrification and energy storage technologies for high‑rise environments.
