Ashton North LLC, located in the Syracuse area, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Digital Hardware to join a cutting-edge DoD sensing technology manufacturer. The role focuses on leading digital hardware design, FPGA implementations, and high-speed data interfaces within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

You will contribute to the development of next-generation products by architecting FPGA solutions, guiding PCB layouts, and validating hardware through rigorous testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required.
• 5+ years of digital hardware design experience.
• Experience with FPGAs, microcontrollers, memory and high-speed interfaces.
• Proficiency with VHDL and/or Verilog.
• Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, logic/spectrum analyzers.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced digital hardware for next-generation products.
• Design multi-layer PCBs, develop schematics, and support board layout activities.
• Architect and develop FPGA solutions using VHDL and/or Verilog on modern Xilinx platforms.
• Perform hardware integration, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Design high-speed digital interfaces, data acquisition systems, DSP, and communication architectures.
• Develop Python and Bash scripts to automate engineering workflows and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced digital hardware for next-generation products.
• Design multi-layer PCBs, develop schematics, and support board layout activities.
• Architect and develop FPGA solutions using VHDL and/or Verilog on modern Xilinx platforms.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of digital hardware design experience.
• Experience designing analog and digital circuits including FPGAs, microcontrollers, memory, and high-speed interfaces.
• Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and similar lab equipment.
• Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

• Altium Designer.

• RF Systems or Software Defined Radio (SDR).
