Job description

Duration: Starts November 2, 2026 — 12-month contract, with extension and conversion possible

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a customer solutions team that designs, deploys, and sustains custom, turnkey automated test systems for aerospace, defense, and government programs.

This is a multi-functional, high-visibility role. You’ll own custom engagements from requirements through deployment: working directly with customers, sales and engineering teams, partner integrators, and contract manufacturers to define what’s needed, write the specification, design and prototype the system, and see it through deployment and field support worldwide. If you’d rather own a test system end to end — from the customer’s requirements to the hardware on their floor — than work one slice of someone else’s design, this is that role.

Test-system experience matters most. Hands-on experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, and PXI or other modular test and measurement hardware is strongly preferred.

This role is fully onsite in Austin. Travel is up to 25%, domestic and international.

This role requires the ability to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers, sales teams, engineering teams, partner integrators, and suppliers to design, implement, and sustain custom test solutions
  • Gather requirements and write requirements documents, statements of work, and bills of materials
  • Define and run project plans — manage milestones and hold design reviews to confirm systems meet requirements and are ready to deploy
  • Specify, design, prototype, test, and deploy turnkey automated test systems
  • Direct support personnel, own technical deliverables, guide technical decisions, and drive field-found issues to resolution
  • Travel as needed (up to 25%), domestically and internationally

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electronics Engineering Technology
  • 7+ years in a hardware systems design or test engineering design role
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer architectures
  • Working knowledge of LabVIEW, TestStand, or C/C++/C#
  • Demonstrated understanding of sources of measurement error, instrumentation and equipment selection, schematics and wiring diagrams, hardware/software integration, and bill of materials creation and review
  • Familiarity with CAD and PCB design tools
  • Statistical analysis of data (Cp, Cpk, GR&R)
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future

Preferred

  • Hands-on LabVIEW and TestStand development
  • Hands-on experience with PXI or other modular test and measurement platforms and instruments
  • Hands-on schematic capture and PCB design
  • Experience leading teams in test and measurement system design
