Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical designs from concept through construction for Southwest Buildings. You will drive project delivery, client relations, and team development across California.

Based in LA, you will mentor engineers, oversee complex projects including light rail and data centers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet budget and schedule while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Licensed Civil or Electrical Engineer (PE) in California, or ability to obtain a California license with 6 months of hire.
• 10 years of architectural design and project delivery experience.
• Proven experience leading multiple projects of varying size and complexity.
• Strong understanding of building systems, California building codes, construction methods, and technical detailing.
• Experience developing complete contract documents, including drawings, specifications, and bid packages.
• Knowledge of building markets and facility types including aviation, ports, transit stations, maintenance facilities, major events venues, and data centers is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for Southwest Buildings projects, ensuring delivery on schedule and within budget.
• Provide collaboration and design integration between disciplines.
• Serve as a senior client manager, building trusted relationships and ensuring client service.
• Lead and oversee electrical design on complex projects including light rail, aviation, events, and data centers.
• Establish design direction, technical standards, and quality expectations with other disciplines.
• Develop and oversee production and quality review for submissions, BIM models, drawings, and specs.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and coordination across disciplines.
• Provide technical leadership during construction and respond to RFIs.
