Electrical Engineer Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will provide electrical engineering services to design complete power distribution systems supporting facility expansions, renovations, remediation, and new construction projects from concept through detailed design and construction.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing all aspects of building electrical systems, including power for equipment, emergency generator systems, grounding, receptacles, lighting, controls, and other related components.
- Designing complete building lighting systems, including associated switching and controls.
- Preparing load analysis, short circuit studies, overcurrent protection coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Receiving supervision and guidance on overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters, while applying knowledge independently to coordinate detailed design aspects and prepare project documents.
- Selecting and specifying all electrical equipment in detail.
- Coordinating design efforts with other disciplines such as mechanical, plumbing, process, and life safety, as well as project architects.
- Supervising team members to ensure project completion within scope, schedule, and budget, including thorough review of documents for quality assurance.
- Visiting project sites periodically to survey existing conditions and observe construction activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of industry engineering experience.
- Strong computer literacy, with advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience with SKM Power Tools or similar electrical engineering software.
- Advanced knowledge of local and national codes, standards, and guidelines.
- Experience working in critical environments and with related building systems.
- Experience with medium voltage power distribution systems; data center experience is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Education / Licenses
Bachelor's degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering and at least EIT certification; PE preferred.
