Job summary

Sigma Design seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and certify cockpit panels for commercial and military aircraft. You will own projects, mentor peers, and impact the full product lifecycle in a company investing in people, products, and possibilities.

The role emphasizes translating requirements into robust hardware, leading design reviews, and hands-on verification of aerospace electronics. A minimum of 5 years in the field is preferred.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or M.S. in Engineering fields or Science.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering for aerospace/defense.
  • Experience withregulated development processes in aerospace or similar industries.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the development of high-reliability electronic hardware for aerospace/defense.
  • Translate high-level requirements into architectural concepts and low-level requirements.
  • Document and present design performance and acceptance criteria in reviews.
  • Act as a technical expert solving complex hardware problems via root cause analysis.
  • Mentor engineers and foster innovation and excellence within the team.
  • Engage in special projects that push airborne electronics boundaries.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and design verification.

Position Details
  • This position will be In-Office
  • Monday – Friday, Day shift (Flexible), full time
The Typical Hiring Range For This Role Is
  • Level III: $120,000–$180,000
  • Level IV: $138,000–$207,000

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead the development of complex, high-reliability electronic hardware for aerospace and defense applications.
  • Translate high-level requirements into architectural concepts and associated low-level requirements.
  • Document and present your design performance, and acceptance criteria in design reviews.
  • Become a trusted technical expert, solving complex hardware problems through root cause analysis and impact assessment.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to a team of skilled engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Engage in special projects that push the boundaries of airborne electronics.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and design verification of products.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or M.S in Engineering fields or Science.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience withaerospace or other industries with highly regulated development processes.
Preferred Skills And Abilities
  • Strong foundation in digital and analog circuit design, analysis, power conversion, and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with CAN, ARINC, and other common communication protocols; ability to program and debug hardware/software interfaces.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards (DO-160, DO-254, MIL-STD-704/461) is a strong plus.
  • An innate ability to troubleshoot and solve complex electrical problems with a creative and analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency in electronic design and schematic tools (e.g., ePADS, Xpedition, PSpice) and a deep understanding of circuit design and analysis.
  • A solid understanding of EMI mitigation design concepts.
  • Jira & Agile project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management tool.
  • Strong communication skill and collaborative mindset.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent use of personal computers, database and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and computer printers.
  • Frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch or feel equipment, materials, and computer.
  • The person in this position needs to frequentlymove inside the office.
  • Frequent close vision and the ability to adjust focus
