Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Generation
- Client preference is Contract (open-ended) or Contract-to-Direct, but will consider Direct Hire.
- Location: Multiple office locations around the United States. Both Hybrid and Remote options available
- Pay Range: $55.00 - $90.00/hour (Pay may be more or less depending on experience.
Enscicon is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a client supporting the design and execution of power generation projects. This position will serve as a technical lead on complex power plant projects from preliminary design through detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and record drawings.
The ideal candidate will have extensive electrical engineering experience within combined-cycle and/or simple-cycle power generation facilities and a strong background in plant electrical systems, power studies, equipment specifications, and multidisciplinary project execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering and design activities for complex power generation projects.
- Develop, coordinate, review, and approve electrical design packages from preliminary design through construction and commissioning.
- Oversee development of power plant electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, breaker control schematics, bus duct layouts, equipment elevations, and cable schedules.
- Develop and review specifications for electrical equipment including transformers, generator circuit breakers, power distribution equipment, cables, and isolated phase bus.
- Perform and review electrical system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, protective relay coordination, and arc flash.
- Provide technical leadership for power system protection and control.
- Review vendor drawings, calculations, specifications, and other technical deliverables.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil/structural, controls, and other engineering disciplines.
- Support project scoping, estimating, budgeting, proposals, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Interface with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and project teams to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and design staff.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting capital projects within power generation.
- Strong experience with Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) and/or Simple Cycle Gas Turbine (SCGT) power plants, including HRSG systems.
- Extensive knowledge of power plant electrical distribution, protection and control systems.
- Experience performing and reviewing short circuit, load flow, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, NEMA, and IEC.
- Experience developing electrical drawings, calculations, equipment specifications, and construction packages.
- Experience with power system analysis/design software such as ETAP and/or SKM.
- Ability to lead projects and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and vendors.
Preferred
- Experience with additional engineering/design platforms such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, SmartPlant, Revit, or CDEGS.
- Multiple-state P.E. licensure.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
