Job summary

Lonza Group Ltd. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership for electrical infrastructure supporting biopharmaceutical manufacturing on the Portsmouth campus.

You will lead design, commissioning, operation, and continuous improvement of electrical systems for utilities, HVAC/R, and facility operations. Collaborate with Utilities, Maintenance, Automation, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure capacity, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• 7-12 years of electrical engineering experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, integration, operation, and continuous improvement of electrical systems across the campus.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for electrical infrastructure, power distribution, and building automation systems.
• Develop strategies that ensure electrical system capacity, reliability, resiliency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with Utilities, HVAC, Maintenance, Automation, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to support operational continuity.
• Support capital projects through planning, design review, commissioning, execution, and startup activities.
• Drive reliability, energy efficiency, sustainability, and lifecycle management programs.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues and provide technical leadership during critical operational events.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for critical electrical infrastructure supporting biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations. What we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• 7-12 years of electrical engineering experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments
• Experience designing, commissioning, operating, and maintaining complex electrical systems throughout their lifecycle
• Knowledge of electrical infrastructure, utilities, HVAC/R systems, building automation systems, and power distribution
• Strong understanding of cGMP requirements and electrical safety standards, including NEC, NFPA, and IEC codes
• Excellent communication, project management, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills
