Job summary

DLZ Corporation in Jacksonville, FL seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer – Building Systems to design power, lighting, fire safety, and low‑voltage systems for diverse building projects. You will mentor staff and ensure code compliance while coordinating with clients.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, a B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, and 10+ years of building design experience, with travel to job sites expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 10+ years’ experience in building design and analysis for electrical systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) Registration is required.
• Revit skills preferred but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of LEED principles and Electrical Codes.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, control, and IT/data systems for buildings.
• Lead and mentor other electrical engineering staff.
• Perform load calculations, life cycle costing, and energy modeling.
• Review installation for compliance with construction documents.
• Prepare construction cost estimates and assist in feasibility studies.
• Coordinate with clients to develop scopes and oversee project budgets.
• Manage concurrent projects across varying types and complexities.

DLZ Corporation currently has a Senior Electrical Engineer - Building Systems opportunity Cincinnati, OH or Jacksonville, FL.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, control, and IT/data systems for buildings.
• Lead and mentor other electrical engineering staff.
• Load calculations, life cycle costing and energy modeling.
• Review installation of designed equipment/systems for compliance with construction documents.
• Prepare construction cost estimates, both in a broad and detailed scope
• Assist in developing feasibility studies
• Assist in the development of contract specifications and research the application of new procedures and/or products.
• Meet, communicate, and coordinate with clients to develop scopes, prepare proposals, and oversee the installation of the work, and manage internal and external project budgets.
• Perform duties on concurrent projects of various project types, scales, and complexity within the established schedules.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor or master's degree in electrical engineering.
• 10+ years' experience in building design, layout and analysis for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) Registration is required.
• Revit skills preferred, but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of LEED principles and Electrical Codes.
• Institutional design experience required.
• Travel to job sites and client offices is required.
• Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
