Job description

We are seeking alicensed Professional Engineer (PEng/PE)with proven experience indistribution protection engineering, with a strong focus onfuse coordination, sectionalization, and reliability improvement studiesfor utility distribution networks in the state of Georgia. The ideal candidate will have direct utility experience and hands-on proficiency withdistribution modeling platformssuch as EasyPower, CYME, ASPEN, or similar tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailedfuse coordination studiesfor overhead and underground distribution feeders.
  • Conductsectionalization studiesto enhance system reliability, reduce outage impacts, and optimize protective device placement.
  • Review, analyze, and developprotection schemesinvolving fuses, reclosers, sectionalizers, and breakers.
  • Calculatefault currents, evaluate protective device performance, and verifytime-current coordination (TCC)curves.
  • Developfeeder improvement plansaimed at enhancing reliability indices (SAIDI/SAIFI/CEMI).
  • Prepare recommendations forfuse sizing, device relocation, protective device upgrades, and system reinforcement.
  • ApplyGeorgia utility protection standards, ensuring compliance with NESC, IEEE, and local utility guidelines.
  • Produce engineering deliverables includingcoordination plots, settings tables, engineering reports, and documentation packages.
  • Collaborate withutility planning, operations, and field engineering teamsto support project execution.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE / P.Eng)— Georgia PE preferred; eligibility for comity is acceptable.
  • 5+ yearsof experience in distribution protection, planning, or reliability engineering.
  • Proven expertise infuse coordination, sectionalization, fault studies, and protection device analysis.
  • Proficiency in modeling tools such asEasyPower(preferred), CYME, ASPEN OneLiner, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
  • Strong understanding ofutility protection standards, NESC, IEEE standards, and Georgia-specific utility practices.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, communication skills, and technical documentation experience.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous work withGeorgia utilities(Georgia Power, EMCs, or similar organizations).
  • Experience withrecloser programming(SEL, Eaton Cooper).
  • Knowledge ofDER impact assessments, feeder modernization, and grid reliability improvement projects.
