Tetra Tech is seeking a full-time Senior-Level Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of related experience to join our fuels team serving Department of Defense (DoD) Clients. This is a 100% remote, work-from-home position.

Responsibilities
  • Directly interface with Clients and represent Tetra Tech with engineering products and solutions with the authority to sign/stamp a design.
  • Work in a key project personnel role with direct interaction to Client stakeholders.
  • Perform electrical systems planning, design, and calculations.
  • Develop detailed electrical and controls schematics.
  • Prepare project specific technical specifications in CSI MasterFormat using SpecsIntact.
  • Prepare labor and materials cost estimates for the level of effort needed to perform electrical design and construction tasks at various levels of project development.
  • Manage assigned workload to meet expectations for project scopes and schedules to perform work within the allotted budget and communicate and coordinate within a project team.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering with 5+ years of technical experience designing electronic and electrical systems for hazardous areas and automation systems associated with bulk fuel delivery and storage systems at U.S. Department of Defense installations.
  • Significant experience with complex electrical systems including System Analysis, System Architecture, System/Equipment Support, and Testing, Evaluation, and Logistics Support.
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Strong familiarity with National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards. Familiarity with IEC or other international standards is a plus.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Background Check
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) within the first 6 months of employment and pass a Favorable Background investigation.
Education & Experience
  • Experience with engineering and design of DoD POL infrastructure, systems, and related equipment and components. Relevant experience for fuels infrastructure can include controls system architecture for industrial processes and equipment.
  • Experience providing control system solutions with programmable logic controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU) and process visualization (SCADA/HMI) with proficiency in standard programming languages for SCADA/HMI.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of industrial networking solutions using Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc. for larger systems.
  • Experience in the design of electrical schematics to include power distribution under 480VAC and control panels with applicable NEC references.
  • Working knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS), and Standard Designs governing military fueling systems and infrastructure.
  • Project management experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities: May mentor and train less experienced staff.

Work Environment: Ability to travel inside and outside the contiguous United States as needed (estimated 10-15% travel). Position is assigned to our Collinsville, IL office but conducive to 100% remote work. Ability to collaborate and work within a diverse team dynamic including office-based and remote employees. Ability to support multiple projects and work on several tasks concurrently.

Language & Communication Skills

Fluent in English. Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective meetings with external Clients and Government stakeholders and internal staff and produce written deliverables such as proposals, technical reports, studies, submittals, and conceptual designs.

Education & Tools

Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera P6. Drafting/design experience with AutoCAD is desired. Experience with Revit or Navisworks is a plus. Experience adapting standardized facility construction specifications to AFCEC, NAVFAC, and USACE project-specific requirements in SpecsIntact.
