Job summary

Optima Engineering is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Charlotte, NC with 5–10 years' experience in mission critical and data center projects. Qualified candidates will hold a PE license in North Carolina or commit to obtaining it within six months.

The role involves design of electrical systems, coordination across disciplines, and contributing to high-quality client solutions. We offer an employee-owned environment, flexible/hybrid schedules, and a range of benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience on Mission Critical and Data Centers projects.
• PE in NC or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide input on project viability, assist with proposal preparation, and help select the design team.
• Produce project schedules, lighting, power, and fire alarm designs, compliance checks and specifications, and conduct reviews.
• Conduct interdisciplinary coordination and manage final reviews/approvals between disciplines and agencies.
• Assist designers with maintaining conformed drawings, preparing submittals, and issuing revisions.
• Work with the Project Manager, Designers, and Construction Administration Specialist to meet company standards and exceed client expectations.

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team and help us continue to provide thoughtful and efficient designs for our clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience on Mission Critical and Data Centers projects.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of North Carolina or ability to obtain your PE in North Carolina within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Very familiar with SKM, Short circuit and Arc Flash Studies SKM or Easy Power.
• Commissioning experience in Data Centers
• UPS and back-up generators
• Ability to write Test Scripts and Direct Efforts
• Willing to work some nights and weekends
