Job summary

Axcelis Technologies seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Beverly, MA headquarters. You will design and evaluate electronic hardware for semiconductor capital equipment, leading projects from concept through validation.

You will work across cross-functional teams, perform design reviews, and ensure compliance with SEMI standards and customer requirements. A strong background in power distribution and high-voltage systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years of electrical/electronic hardware design experience as an individual contributor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as part of cross-functional teams.
• Experience conducting technical design reviews with larger groups.
• Experience working with engineering change notices in formal change processes.
• Experience in Systems engineering, High-voltage, RF power, PCB design or Power Distribution.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or circuitry for hardware systems.
• Execute engineering projects including power distribution, vacuum systems, high voltage, control systems, robotics, safety interlocks and electro-static chuck technologies.
• Ensures adherence to the development process including requirements planning, schedule estimates, reviews, verification and validation tests.
• Provide electrical engineering interface to the design services group and offshore teams for on-time delivery.
• Analyzes equipment to establish operating data and evaluates results.
• Ensures designs meet objectives, safety requirements and SEMI/customer specs.
• Selects components based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
• May review vendor capability to support product development.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications.
• Execute engineering projects and development of electromechanical systems including power distribution, vacuum systems, high voltage, control systems, robotics, safety interlocks and electro-static chuck technologies.
• Ensures adherence to the development process including requirements planning, schedule estimates, concept reviews, design reviews, verification, and validation test plans.
• Provide electrical engineering interface to the design services group and to offshore teams to deliver quality designs and on-time performance.
• Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.
• Ensures designs meet design objectives as well as safety, industry (SEMI), and customer specific requirements.
• Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
• May also review vendor capability to support product development.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience of electrical/electronic hardware design as an individual contributor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience conducting technical design reviews with a larger group
• Experience working with engineering change notices in formal change process
• One or more of the following Experience: Systems engineering, High-voltage, RF power, PCB design, Power Distribution
• Design skills with Altium, PADS, PSpice
• Experience with Creo Schematic, Creo Cabling, AutoCad is a plus.
• Windchill experience a plus

• Semiconductor capital equipment experience a plus

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE

$124,050.32 - $186,075.49

This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on

multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work

location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as

you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the

Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular

employees working 20+ hours a week).
