Senior Electrical Engineer – Ayer, Massachusetts

Position Purpose

Sealed Air is seeking a driven, team-oriented engineering professional to fulfill our current Electrical Engineering position located in Ayer, Massachusetts. The qualified candidate will be responsible for packaging equipment development, with a focus on software and industrial control system design throughout a product's lifecycle. In this role the engineer will innovate and design packaging equipment control systems and related software. Candidates should be comfortable with agile methodologies and communicating with customers. The ability to handle multiple projects, work independently, and interact with team leaders as well as peers will be critical.

Scope

Position scope includes new equipment development projects, support of legacy equipment, design and support of production test equipment, troubleshooting, problem solving, and cross-functional team support.

Responsibilities

• Design & maintain software / firmware for industrial control systems, embedded control systems, and test equipment.
• Develop and maintain software for database connections & data collection solutions.
• Design and program HMI / GUI interfaces.
• Maintain revision control on all documentation, drawings & programs via engineering change notices (ECN) and document control systems.
• Support manufacturing relating to customer orders, inventory, parts, documentation, equipment commissioning, and maintenance of test equipment.
• Create & maintain bills of materials.
• Troubleshoot & provide field support with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Create & maintain schematic drawings in AutoCAD (occasionally).
• Create & maintain cable assembly drawings & wire run / point-to-point lists (occasionally).

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of experience with electrical design and project engineering / software development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
• Proficiency with software development for equipment and services.
• Experience with C, C++, C#, and Python programming.
• Experience with IoT technology with a focus on edge devices.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience with industrial network protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, CAN Bus, DeviceNet.
• Knowledge of industrial controls and PLC programming with ladder logic a plus.
• Ability to travel if required.
• Comfortable working with and providing guidance to peers.

Competencies

C/C++, C#, Visual Studio, .NET, Python, AutoCAD Electrical, knowledge of engineering release processes, industrial communications (EtherIP, CIP), PID / temperature control systems, motor control, MS Office suite. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $81,900–$141,335

Offers within this range will be determined by considering relevant factors including education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs.
