Job summary

KAI is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Atlanta to lead design, development, implementation, and analysis of electrical systems for diverse projects. You will oversee project engineering design, ensure NEC compliance, and manage schedules while collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality electrical designs.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer at KAI will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and analysis of electrical engineering systems for various projects. This role involves leading project engineering design, ensuring compliance with the National Electric Code, and managing project schedules. The Senior Electrical Engineer 1 will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective electrical designs.

Essential Functions
  • Perform engineering design evaluations and lead project engineering design specific to electrical engineering.
  • Conduct site investigations to obtain necessary information for project design.
  • Produce engineering narratives, and engineering assessments of existing facilities.
  • Design lighting and power systems, perform electrical short circuit analysis, and conduct building power load analysis.
  • Ensure energy code compliance through precise calculations and detailed design. Prepare engineering analyses, including preliminary design, budget analysis, life cycle costs, and equipment selection.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and layouts using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Develop technical construction specifications for electrical systems and components.
  • Review designs to ensure compliance with the National Electric Code and other applicable standards.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines within the company and external consultants to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into overall project design.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
  • Perform field observations as part of the construction quality assurance process to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Identifydenti and address issues or discrepancies promptly to maintain project quality and integrity.
  • Assist in the development and management of project schedules, assigning tasks to team members as needed.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery. Provide leadership and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences as part of the design and project review process.
  • Support the training and development of junior staff members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Identify opportunities for process improvements in electrical engineering design and implementation.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
  • Function as a point of contact for clients regarding electrical engineering aspects of projects.
  • Ensure client requirements and expectations are met through effective communication and project management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on building systems design and project management.
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electric Code and other relevant electrical standards and codes.
  • Experience with various electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
