Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a leading medical device manufacturing company. You will lead electrical engineering activities for new and sustaining devices, manage IEC 60601-1 safety and EMC testing, and liaison with external test labs.

You will evaluate design changes, perform PCBAs and finished product testing, analyze failures, and support regulatory submissions while ensuring compliance with standards and the company Quality System.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with focus on hardware design and test execution.
• Experience in regulated/medical device environments.
• Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering activities for new and sustaining medical devices.
• Manage IEC 60601-1 safety and EMC testing and liaise with external test labs.
• Troubleshoot failures and document test plans and reports.
• Evaluate design changes from component-level updates through complete systems.
• Perform BOM replacement assessments and electrical testing of PCBAs and finished products.
• Analyze failures and ensure device-system compatibility.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, regulatory, sourcing, and cross-functional teams.
• Support regulatory submissions and maintain compliance with standards and internal QMS.

This role is responsible for leading electrical engineering activities that support both new and sustaining medical devices, including managing IEC 60601-1 safety and EMC compliance testing, serving as the primary liaison with external test laboratories, troubleshooting failures, and documenting test plans and reports. The engineer evaluates design changes from component-level updates through complete systems, performs BOM replacement assessments, conducts electrical testing of PCBAs and finished products, analyzes failures, and ensures compatibility between medical devices and system components. Working closely with manufacturing, quality, regulatory, sourcing, and cross-functional engineering teams, this individual supports product development, sustaining engineering, and regulatory submissions while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and internal quality system requirements.

• Experience with test equipment's such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, as well as manual tools such as soldering irons and crimpers
• Regulated industry or medical device experience
• Experience with Class II or Class III medical devices)
• Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2
