Job summary

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a senior electrical designer for generation facilities.

The role focuses on schematics, cable sizing and routing, and connection diagrams for switchboards, panelboards, relays, instrumentation and lighting. You will design electrical systems including duct banks, cable trays, raceways, grounding and lighting using AutoCAD, Plant3D and Revit in 2D/3D workflows, under minimal supervision, with opportunities to lead other designers and ensure project quality and

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 20+ years of progressive design experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design routine to moderately difficult engineering drawings (layouts, assemblies, schematics, and details) using CAD tools.
• Apply advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within electrical engineering.
• Coordinate design work between project team specialties.
• Ensure design documents meet Mesa procedures and project requirements and may perform design checks on non-complex deliverables.
• Understand the design approach (technical, construction, commercial) and ensure it meets requirements.
• Know the types of drawings required for a project and their inter-relationships with other deliverables.
• Manage personal task assignments and adhere to scope, schedule and budget.
• Communicate with Senior Designer on project status, needs, and scope changes.
• Perform basic design calculations, prepare material/equipment specs, and produce sketches or detailed drawings.
• May lead other designers and drafters depending on project complexity.
• Understand general construction methods and ensure deliverables meet requirements.
• Reference vendor prints, catalogs, and client standards and interface with engineering as required.
• Collaborate with project personnel to resolve issues that may be critical or urgent.
