Job summary

Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join our Indianapolis, IN headquarters.

The role focuses on creating and updating power, lighting, and instrumentation drawings in Revit and AutoCAD, producing coordinated construction documents, and ensuring code compliance across project phases. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, maintain Revit models, and contribute to drafting standards while performing load calculations and equipment layouts under

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as an electrical designer or in a similar role.
• Experience in Revit (MEP focus) and AutoCAD for electrical design is a plus.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, including lighting and power distribution.
• Experience in field troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and engineering sketches.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify electrical drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, including power, lighting, and instrumentation systems.
• Produce construction documents, plans, diagrams, schedules, and details in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate electrical designs with civil, architectural, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated project deliverables.
• Assist in performing load calculations, equipment layouts, and circuiting under the direction of a licensed engineer.
• Maintain and update project models, families, and templates within Revit.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes.
• Support project teams through all phases, from conceptual design to construction administration.
• Participate in internal design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting and modeling standards.
