Role Description

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Manhattan, NY. This position is responsible for leading the electrical design of building systems, including power distribution, lighting, life safety, and low‑voltage systems for a range of commercial, institutional, and residential projects. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include developing design concepts, performing load calculations, preparing drawings and specifications, and coordinating with mechanical, architectural, and structural teams. The role involves reviewing and sealing design documents as appropriate, guiding junior engineers and designers, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will participate in site surveys, design, construction administration, submittal reviews, and field inspections to verify installation quality and design intent.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with proven experience in building systems and application of electricity principles in commercial, institutional, and residential projects.
• Hands‑on expertise in Electrical Design and Design Engineering, including load calculations, circuiting, equipment selection, and preparation of detailed construction documents.
• Practical experience in Power Distribution systems, including medium‑ and low‑voltage distribution, panelboard and switchgear layouts, grounding, and short‑circuit and coordination studies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in NY or ability to obtain is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with CADD/BIM tools and related electrical design software; ability to read and coordinate multidisciplinary drawings.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, local building codes) and experience designing to budget and schedule constraints.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate effectively with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document designs clearly and participate in client and coordination meetings.
