About the Opportunity
I am currently partnering with a premier engineering and multidisciplinary consulting firm to recruit a high-caliber Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer. My client delivers high-impact technical solutions across science, technology, and defense infrastructure, offering a vibrant, collaborative environment where top engineering talent can thrive.
This is a full-time, on-site position located at a key defense facility in Indian Head, MD (conveniently situated within 30 miles of Washington, DC, and 25 miles of Alexandria, VA). In this role, you will lead electrical design, perform critical technical reviews, and manage infrastructure upgrade projects from concept through final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Design & Execution: Develop comprehensive design packages—including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for facility upgrades, main power distribution, emergency power systems, surge suppression, lightning protection, grounding/bonding, and control/telecom systems.
- Technical Quality & Compliance: Conduct thorough technical reviews of external design packages to ensure full alignment with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and end-user requirements.
- Project Leadership: Act as Project Manager and/or Design Manager on assigned initiatives, driving progress from early concepts through complete delivery.
- Technical Writing & Proposals: Prepare basis-of-design documentation, technical reports, and engineering inputs for prospective project proposals.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate closely with internal design teams, site operations, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of electrical engineering experience, including at least 4 years focused on electrical power systems design for new or modernized facilities.
- Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or Working Towards A PE.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in NFPA 70 / NEC standards. Solid hands-on experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Specialized Skills: Experience with energetics-related safety systems (e.g., specialized bonding, grounding, and lightning protection) is a strong plus.
- Clearance & Citizenship: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen (ineligible for Limited Access Authorizations).
- Salary: $140,000 – $220,000 per year, depending on depth of experience and skills.
