Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer based in Hagerstown, MD. The role focuses on developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and production documentation for railway vehicles and subassemblies.

You will define components, prepare specifications, and support on-board integration tests while collaborating with clients and suppliers in an international environment. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Electrical Design Engineering.
• Experience with railway electrical systems is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Develop functional schemes for vehicle and subassemblies.
• Develop wiring diagrams for vehicle and subassemblies.
• Create electrical documentation for production (topographic diagrams, cable routing, layouts, wiring tables, harness drawings).
• Design electrical subassemblies (cubicles, electrical boxes).
• Define electro/mechanical components and wiring for systems.
• Prepare system and component technical specifications.
• Prepare electrical requirements specifications for the vehicle.
• Support on-board integration testing for electrical functions.
• Conduct design reviews with clients and suppliers.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks in Engineering Department. The position is based in Hagerstown, MD.

Accountabilities

• Development of functional schemes (vehicle and subassemblies)
• Development of wiring diagrams (vehicle and subassemblies)
• Development of electrical documentation for production (topographic diagrams, cable routing, component layouts, wiring tables, harness drawings etc.)
• Design of electrical subassemblies (electrical cubicle in the compartment, electrical boxes outside the car, etc.)
• Definition of electro/mechanical components and electrical components for wiring
• Preparation of system requirements specification and component technical specification
• Preparation of the electrical requirements specifications of the vehicle
• Support during the on-board integration test for electrical functions
• Design review with Clients and Suppliers

Required Skills/ Knowledge

• 5+ years of experience in Electrical Design Engineering.
• Experience (if any) in the railway industry with the role of Systems Electrical Engineer and/or Designer focused on Electrical systems.
• Recommended knowledge of the main regulations relating to electrical systems in the railway business, for design and testing.
• Recommended knowledge of the main office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
• Recommended knowledge of mechanical design software (Autocad, Creo, Catia, etc.) and the IBM DOORS requirements management tool.
• Recommended knowledge of electrical design software (preferred E3 Zuken).
• Recommended knowledge of Engineering Processes and Railway Operations.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, with the attitude to contribute with constructive and practical ideas.
• Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative, fast paced, multitasking international environment.
• Ability to work autonomously in teams and for projects is required.
• Availability for short-term national and international business trips.

Desired Skills/ Knowledge

• Good knowledge of electrical schematics/topics
• Ability to manage and plan the assigned tasks independently and team-working.
• Ability to analyze business requirements, problem-solving attitude and business process analysis.
• Ability to face the different internal functions (internal customer) and external (suppliers, customers, partners).

Education/Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant industry experience.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $115,175 to $172,762 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate's experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
