Job summary

AEP in the United States is seeking an electrical design engineer to own and oversee deliverables, ensuring drawings, models, and technical packages are complete, accurate, and constructible per Engineering Services standards.

You will develop and approve electrical design drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules. Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation and Microsoft Office is required, with field support during construction.

Qualifications

Associate degree in CAD, drafting and design, or engineering technology (AAS) in a related field.
Minimum 7 years of equivalent experience in electric utility drafting or CAD work.
Equivalent experience without an AAS: high school graduate with 10 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Develop, review, and approve electrical design drawings including single-line diagrams.
Prepare and review cables schedules, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.
Coordinate with engineers to ensure design intent is reflected in drawings.
Review vendor drawings for constructability and interface alignment.
Provide design support during construction, commissioning and closeout.
Create redlines and maintain as-built updates; ensure document control.
