Job summary

AEP Service Corporation in Columbus, Ohio is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Technician to own and oversee electrical design deliverables, ensuring drawings, models, and technical packages are complete, accurate, constructible, and aligned with Engineering Services standards.

You will develop, review, and approve electrical design drawings and coordinate with engineers to ensure design intent is reflected in all deliverables, while maintaining high drafting quality and thorough document

Qualifications

Associate degree CAD drafting or engineering tech; 7+ years experience or HS + 10 years.
Must be proficient with drafting symbols and drafting methods and have the ability to distinguish colors.
Must be able to operate a company motor vehicle and possess a valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Develop, review, and approve electrical design drawings (SLDs, schematics, wiring diagrams).
Review vendor and OEM drawings for design completeness and constructability.
Provide electrical design support during construction, commissioning, and closeout.
Coordinate with electrical engineers to reflect design intent in drawings and models.
Proficiency with CAD tools AutoCAD and MicroStation and MS Office.
Prepare material and cost estimates and assist in training.
