Job summary

Miniat LLC in South Holland, IL seeks a Sr. Electrical Controls Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and support electrical equipment and industrial control systems across multiple food manufacturing facilities.

The role focuses on PLC/SCADA/HMI programming, system upgrades, project leadership from concept through completion, safety compliance, documentation, and providing 24-hour technical support to operations and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (prefer electrical)
• 5–7 years of controls engineering experience in manufacturing
• 5–7 years of experience programming PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs
• Experience with AB PLCs (Controllogix, SLC500) and PLC networks
• Field instrumentation and final control elements experience
• Knowledge of 3-phase 480V power distribution, NEC, NFPA 70E, PPE
• MS Office proficiency; basic AutoCAD familiarity
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Team player who works well across levels

Responsibilities

• Program PLCs, SCADA, HMIs and related equipment
• Develop in-house or with external integrators; may manage contractors
• Lead projects from concept to completion: requirements, scope, budget, schedule
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures
• Stay updated on technologies, standards, and best practices
• Maintain/upgrade electrical and control systems across facilities
• Provide technical support to operations and maintenance
• Document systems and operation procedures
• Mentor and train plant personnel
