Job summary

Georgia-Pacific’s Gypsum facility in Wheatfield, IN seeks a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to lead automation projects, design and program PLC and HMI systems, and integrate new vision systems while supporting existing plant controls. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Process Control, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Automation or Process Control.
  • Experience in Industrial Control Systems (PLCs, motor controls, control valves, industrial instrumentation for positioning, flow, level, pressure, & temperature)
  • Process Control Networking
  • HMI/SCADA Maintenance and Design
  • Experience in Control System documentation using MS Office and AutoCAD

Responsibilities

  • Provide conceptual system design for proposed projects.
  • Develop engineering and capital cost estimates for assigned projects.
  • Provide design documentation sufficient for construction, operations, and maintenance.
  • Implement programming guidelines and standards.
  • Design, program, modify and maintain PLC and HMI systems.
  • Manage implementation of upgrades and new technology.
  • Develop and implement control strategies.
  • Work with corporate teams and contractors to specify and install systems.
  • Create instrumentation and control system specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and support electrical, controls, and process related systems.
  • Support on-call and maintenance schedule duties to the plant.

Job description

Senior Electrical Controls Engineer - Gypsum

Georgia-Pacific's Building Products division is seeking qualified professionals to consider for their Senior Electrical Controls Engineer opportunity for the Gypsum manufacturing facility located in Wheatfield, IN.

Our gypsum facility is located 20 minutes south of Valparaiso in Wheatfield, IN. We are looking for a Sr. Electrical Controls Engineer to provide technical expertise and project engineering as required to support the facility’s execution plan and operations. This position will be responsible for the integration of new projects including installation and design of new vision systems and automation equipment. Maintaining and supporting existing plant systems and technology will also be a requirement of the role. This position will have direct impact on safety, reliability, cost reduction, and process improvement at the facility.

What You Will Do In Your Role

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Process Control, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Automation or Process Control
  • Experience in Industrial Control Systems (PLCs, motor controls, control valves, industrial instrumentation for positioning, flow, level, pressure, & temperature)
  • Process Control Networking
  • HMI/SCADA Maintenance and Design
  • Experience in Control System documentation using MS Office and AutoCAD
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience with vision system integration in manufacturing plants
  • Industrial electrical knowledge, including both power (480VAC) and control circuits
  • Server and PC knowledge (Windows, Linux,etc.)
  • Preferred platforms and standards: Rockwell Studio 5000 and legacy platforms (RSlogix 5, 500), CTI PLCs and related legacy infrastructure, Ignition, GE Proficy iFix, and FactoryTalk View, Rockwell Powerflex and Kinetix drives, Yaskawa A1000 and legacy drives, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus communication protocols, Thin Client Architecture
