Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC in Sweetwater, TX is seeking motivated Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technicians to join our Maintenance team. The role focuses on resolving electrical and mechanical issues, supporting equipment upgrades, identifying quality concerns, and ensuring production equipment operates within specifications.

You will work with operating technicians, mechanics and engineers to improve mill reliability, install components, troubleshoot and calibrate equipment, and maintain

Qualifications

  • Three years of electrical and/or instrumentation experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs (programming not required).
  • Experience with 480V, 3-phase and lower voltages.
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electrical/mechanical instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Work with operating technicians, mechanics, engineers, and other team members to improve reliability and performance of mill equipment.
  • Install equipment at the component level while adhering to all state and plant codes, policies, and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and electrical equipment per diagrams, manuals and specs.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, precision measuring tools and testing instruments for repairs and calibration.
  • Maintain and improve the reliability of all plant equipment through MP2 work orders and repair records.
  • Respond to plant electrical and maintenance issues.
  • Share knowledge with other technicians regarding maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Training and development in PLC programming and software.
  • Based upon business need must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.

Our Georgia-Pacific Gypsum facility located in Sweetwater, TX is seeking motivated and safety-oriented Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technicians to join our Maintenance team. The maintenance team helps ensure the successful operation of the facility by resolving mechanical and electrical issues, recommending alternative repairs and equipment upgrades, identifying quality concerns, setting equipment in a precision state, and understanding the production threshold of the equipment.

Compensation
  • The E&I role starts at $39.00/hour and up depending on experience. Candidates must have basic electrical knowledge in addition to mechanical knowledge.
  • Relocation benefits may be available
Schedule
  • Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, with overtime weekends and Holidays as needed.
  • -OR- 12-hour rotating shifts Sunday-Wednesday with alternating Wednesdays off or Wednesday-Saturday with Alternating Wednesdays off

What You Will Do
  • Work with operating technicians, mechanics, engineers, and other team members to improve reliability and performance of mill equipment
  • Install equipment at the component level while adhering to all state and plant codes, policies, and procedures
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and electrical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals and manufacturers specifications. Equipment includes but is not limited to: motors, pneumatic components, conveyor systems and production machines
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, precision measuring tools and testing instruments for repairs and calibration
  • Maintain and improve the reliability of all plant equipment through the use of the MP2 work order system and repair records
  • Respond to plant electrical and maintenance issues
  • Share knowledge with other technicians regarding maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Training and continuous development of knowledge in the use of PLC programming and software
  • Based upon business need must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Three (3) years of electrical and/or instrumentation experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment; or two (2) year degree or higher in Electrical/Electronic or Industrial Technology
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC’s (programing not a requirement)
  • Experience in working with & troubleshooting electrical systems that use 480V, 3 Phase and lower voltages
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electrical/mechanical instrumentation
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Five (5) years or more of industrial experience in the electrical and/or electronics field
  • Experience working with PLC’s, RSLogix5000, RSLinx and Siemens S7
  • Experience working with pneumatic systems
  • Experience reading technical drawings, electrical and pneumatic schematics
  • Experience and or knowledge of installing and maintaining equipment with adherence to the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Experience troubleshooting bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors
