Job summary

PRAB, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to lead the design of electrical controls, PLC and HMI programming, and detailed documentation for control packages.

You will work closely with sales to quote packages and support field technicians, reporting to the Engineering Manager and possibly supervising others on larger projects. The role emphasizes ownership of projects, strong communication, and the ability to travel for customer start-up and installation support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology or equivalent experience.
• Experience writing PLC logic and HMI programming.
• Field installation experience and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of Pneumatic and Hydraulic design.
• Familiar with several SCADA communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design and testing & troubleshooting of controls, including panels, PLC logic & HMI programming.
• Produce detailed panel layout drawings with bill of materials.
• Communicate with customers regarding electrical control portions of projects.
• Own and manage projects from start to finish.
• Travel to customers to provide engineering, start-up & installation support.
• Panel and logic checkout in shop before shipment.
• Maintain production schedule by finishing work on time.
• Interpret customer specifications and coordinate with other departments.
• Represent the company professionally and manage schedules of the team.
• Provide pricing input for the Sales Department.

Job description

The Senior Electrical Controls Engineers are responsible for overall design of the company’s electrical controls & associated PLC and HMI programming. Duties include preparation of engineering drawings & documentation for control packages. This person must have the ability to work close with sales department to quote medium to large control packages and support service department field technicians. This is a highly visible position both within the Company and to its customers. Strength in controls design coupled with proven project management ability and excellent communication skills are hallmarks of the successful Electrical Controls Engineer. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and may be required to supervise the work of others depending on project size & workload.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Documented experience writing PLC logic and HMI programming.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD electrical.
• Working knowledge of Windows & general computer operation.
