Job summary

Aptiv is seeking a skilled Electrical Center (EC) design engineer to develop and validate electrical-mechanical assemblies for automotive applications in Troy, MI. You will use tools like Moldflow, FEA, and GD&T to ensure cost, performance, and manufacturability targets are met while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires strong English communication, time management, and a proactive approach to design reviews, validation, and customer presentations.

Qualifications

• Design of electrical-mechanical assemblies for automotive applications (fuse boxes, PDCs, PDBs, connectors, terminals, housings).
• Knowledge of automotive electrical system products including electrical centers, harnesses, connections, terminals.
• Materials and manufacturing methods for stamped metal, molded plastic components, PCBs.
• Interpret results of design analysis tools such as DFMEA, mechanical and thermal FEA, Moldflow, tolerance stacks.
• Excellent time management and prioritization.
• Assertive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficient English speaking, reading and writing.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excel proficiency.
• Knowledge of Siemens NX.

Responsibilities

• Develop Electrical Center (EC) products and assemblies using customer requirements and Aptiv standards.
• Lead the EC product development process, ensuring timely completion of internal design reviews.
• Create robust designs using analysis tools while meeting cost, performance, and manufacturing requirements.
• Apply GD&T to components and assemblies.
• Prepare Validation Plans, DFMEAs, test reports, and DFM review materials.
• Partner with Project Management to develop and manage timing plans for mechanical components.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Electrical, Systems Engineering, and Testing teams to meet requirements.
• Generate cost estimates, change orders, RFQs, and EC design documentation.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to customers.
• Support customer design reviews, design validation activities, and vehicle/bench builds.
