Job summary

Slate is seeking a Sr. Buyer – Electrical Modules and Components to lead sourcing for critical electrical parts in a fast-paced startup environment. You will manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and drive cost improvements while ensuring on-time program milestones.

The role requires 8–10 years in procurement or supply chain, with automotive experience preferred. Base salary ranges from $108,800 to $136,000, with compensation varying by experience and location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in supply chain, engineering, or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
• Automotive or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Proven experience sourcing automotive electrical systems.
• Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Plex, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manage a strategic supply base for Slate's tiered electrical components.
• Sourcing: identify qualified supplier candidates, define strategies and approval processes, drive sourcing approvals for parts, tooling, and services.
• Document supplier agreements and own supplier relationships.
• Lead supplier RFIs, RFQs, negotiations, and commercial terms to meet program targets.
• Ensure supplier production readiness and program timing.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management to resolve cost, quality, and delivery issues.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities including value engineering with suppliers.
• Monitor partner performance and develop risk mitigation actions.
