Job summary

City of Union is seeking a skilled journeyman lineworker to maintain overhead and underground electrical service for the City and surrounding areas. You will respond to outages, install and repair street lights, transformers, and primary/secondary lines, and ensure safe, reliable power delivery.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED with vocational electrical training and a valid South Carolina CDL with endorsements, plus Lineworker C and Basic Meter Training; First Aid/CPR are also

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training in electrical or related field preferred.
• One year of work experience showing ability to maintain steady employment; or equivalent combination of education and training.

Responsibilities

• Maintains continuous electric service to customers, responds to power outages citywide.
• Installs, repairs, and maintains street lights, power lines, and equipment; climbs poles and operates bucket trucks.
• Installs conduits, transformers, meters, and related electrical infrastructure for new and existing properties.
• Maintains substations; reads meters, logs data, and assists with power quality monitoring.
• Performs rough-ins and final inspections to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours outage response.
• Maintains equipment and inventory for bucket trucks, meters, and related tools.
