Job summary

We are seeking a Senior Elasticsearch Administrator for a full-time role in the United States to manage Elasticsearch clusters, design indexing strategies, and optimize performance while ensuring security and reliability.

The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of Elasticsearch administration, Elastic certifications, and a track record in large-scale production environments, with preferred AWS,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree plus two years of relevant experience.
• Five to eight years of Elasticsearch or search platform administration experience.
• Elastic Certified Engineer required.
• Elastic Certified Analyst or Elastic Certified Observability Engineer obtainable within 180 days of assignment.
• Preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate; Linux Professional Institute Certification; CompTIA Security+.
• Required Skills: Elasticsearch cluster management; index configuration and optimization; query performance tuning; security configuration; monitoring and alerting; data lifecycle management; backup and recovery.
• Preferred Skills: ELK Stack; Beats integration; cloud deployment; large-scale production environments; federal sector experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer Elasticsearch clusters including node management, sharding, and scaling.
• Design index mappings, templates, lifecycle policies, and ingest pipelines.
• Tune query and indexing performance; optimize search relevance and throughput.
• Configure security controls, authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, snapshot, and recovery procedures.
• Manage data lifecycle, retention, and storage optimization.

Job Summary:

Manages Elasticsearch cluster administration, configuration, indexing strategies, performance tuning, security, and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Elasticsearch clusters including node management, sharding, and scaling.
• Design index mappings, templates, lifecycle policies, and ingest pipelines.
• Tune query and indexing performance; optimize search relevance and throughput.
• Configure security controls, authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, snapshot, and recovery procedures.
• Manage data lifecycle, retention, and storage optimization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree plus two (2) additional years of relevant experience. Two (2) years of specialized experience may substitute for one (1) year of the academic requirement.
• Minimum Experience: Five (5) to eight (8) years of Elasticsearch or search platform administration experience.
• Certifications — Required: Elastic Certified Engineer.
• Certifications — Obtainable After Hire: Elastic Certified Analyst or Elastic Certified Observability Engineer, within 180 days of assignment.
• Certifications — Preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate; Linux Professional Institute Certification; CompTIA Security+.
• Required Skills: Elasticsearch cluster management; index configuration and optimization; query performance tuning; security configuration; monitoring and alerting; data lifecycle management; backup and recovery.
• Preferred Skills: ELK Stack; Beats integration; cloud deployment; large-scale production environments; federal sector experience.

Technical Environment

Elasticsearch and Kibana; Logstash and Beats (Filebeat, Metricbeat); index lifecycle management and data tiers; Elastic Security with role-based access control and TLS; snapshot and restore to Amazon S3 or Azure Blob Storage; OpenSearch and Amazon OpenSearch Service; Grafana and Prometheus monitoring; Linux administration and JVM tuning
