Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Elastic Platform Engineer to support an Air Force project at Ft. Belvoir, VA.

The role focuses on migrating from Splunk to Elastic, designing and deploying enterprise Elastic environments for security monitoring and log analytics. The engineer will manage Elastic clusters, develop data ingestion pipelines, deploy Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK), and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with security requirements.

Qualifications

• ;Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years supporting cyber security tooling, specifically Elastic;Extensive hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, and Elastic Agent;Proven experience leading or supporting large-scale Splunk-to-Elastic migration projects;Strong expertise in Kubernetes administration and ECK deployments;Deep understanding of security logging, SIEM architectures, and SOC workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and administration of enterprise Elastic environments for security monitoring and log analytics.
• Architect and implement migration from Splunk to Elastic ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Build, manage, and optimize Elastic clusters (Elasticsearch, Kibana) in HA secure environments.
• Design and maintain data ingestion pipelines to collect and route security data into Elastic.
• Deploy, configure, and support Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK) environments.
• Administer Kubernetes-based Elastic deployments including provisioning, upgrades, and monitoring.
• Create dashboards, alerts, and reporting for security investigations and operations.
• Support migration testing, validation, and cutover activities from Splunk to Elastic.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and standards.
