Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Elastic Platform Engineer to support a critical Department of Defense program at Scott Air Force Base, IL. You will design, deploy, and manage enterprise Elastic environments for observability, analytics, and cybersecurity initiatives.

The role requires 8+ years of platform engineering experience and strong expertise in Elastic, Kubernetes, and containerized environments. You will own the platform, drive modernization, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related disciplines.
• Extensive hands-on experience building, deploying, and managing Elastic environments.
• Experience supporting Kubernetes environments in production settings.
• Ability to independently own and manage enterprise-scale Elastic platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise Elastic Stack environments (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, Elastic Agents).
• Build and support Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK) deployments.
• Manage and optimize Elastic clusters for scalability, performance, and resiliency.
• Support Kubernetes-based infrastructure and Rancher-managed environments.
• Develop data ingestion pipelines and platform integrations across enterprise systems.
• Collaborate with teams to deploy monitoring, logging, observability, and analytics solutions.
• Perform platform troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Assist migration initiatives (e.g., Splunk-to-Elastic).
• Implement IaC and security controls within Elastic environments.
• Create documentation, architecture diagrams, and engineering standards.
