Job summary

ECS in Reston, VA is looking for a Sr. Elastic Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain Elastic Stack environments at scale. You will collaborate with engineering, DevOps, cloud, and client teams to deliver resilient solutions.

The role requires hands-on Elastic expertise, strong scripting, Linux/Unix, cloud knowledge (AWS/Azure/GCP), and the ability to mentor teams. Domestic and international on-site engagements and TS/SCI clearance are expected.

Qualifications

• Hands-on expertise with Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, Fleet).
• Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
• Understanding of observability, logging, metrics, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing, deploying, and optimizing production-scale Elastic environments.
• Strong Linux/Unix, networking, and cloud knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Ability to mentor, guide, and influence engineering teams on Elastic best practices.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to support domestic or international on-site engagements.
• U.S. Passport required; TS/SCI clearance at minimum; eligible for U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain Elastic Stack environments (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, Fleet).
• Build and optimize ingestion pipelines, index strategies, searches, dashboards, automation workflows.
• Write scripts and integrations to streamline operations, data processing, and monitoring.
• Deploy Elastic across on-prem, AWS, Azure, GCP, GovCloud, and container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift).
• Use Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker for deployments and tasks.
• Integrate Elastic with SIEMs, Splunk, CrowdStrike, and telemetry sources.
• Monitor health, troubleshoot performance, and improve reliability.
• Lead design reviews and share Elastic best practices.
• Maintain runbooks and deployment/run-time architecture docs.
• Stay current with Elastic features and certifications.
