Working with limited supervision, this role exercises discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, including evaluating complex EHS risks, interpreting regulatory and company requirements, recommending controls, and determining appropriate escalation and corrective‑action strategies. This position partners closely with operations leadership, employees, and contractors to mitigate risk, prevent incidents, strengthen EHS performance, and provide technical guidance, coaching, and leadership across field activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture through visible field presence, coaching, leadership, and employee engagement.
  • Conduct routine field inspections, audits, safety observations, and hazard assessments to identify risks and verify compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and pre‑job hazard reviews to support safe work execution.
  • Lead complex or significant incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective‑action development, communication of findings, and follow‑up to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and assess compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA standards and company EHS policies and procedures.
  • Lead or provide senior‑level support for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures, programs, and management systems.

  • Monitor contractor safety performance and verify alignment with company expectations, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with environmental compliance efforts, including emissions monitoring, reporting, spill prevention, waste management, and regulatory requirements such as OOOO compliance.
  • Perform or coordinate inspections and testing of safety‑critical equipment, including fire extinguishers, emergency response equipment, and other required safety systems.
  • Assist with emergency response planning, preparedness activities, drills, and incident response efforts.
  • Maintain accurate EHS documentation, reports, records, permits, inspections, and compliance‑related data.
  • Analyze and communicate EHS performance metrics, trends, and leading indicators; identify systemic risks; and recommend strategic or operational improvements to field leadership.
  • Verify corrective actions identified through inspections, audits, and incident investigations are effectively implemented and sustained.
  • Serve as a senior EHS advisor and trusted technical resource for field leadership and personnel, providing guidance, coaching, and practical solutions that promote safe and environmentally responsible operations.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in evaluating significant EHS issues, selecting appropriate courses of action, and recommending operational or compliance solutions to field leadership.
  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements and company standards to complex or non‑routine field conditions, with authority to elevate or recommend suspension of work when significant EHS risks are identified.
  • Use appropriate safety equipment and comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow surface safety equipment guidelines and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain positive, respectful working relationships across all teams.
  • Support a work environment aligned with the company’s Purpose, Vision, and Core Values.
Other Duties
